Areas of Research

Technology Transfer and Production

Our research in Technology Transfer and Production focuses on bridging the gap between research outputs and industry application. We study and develop methods for adapting scientific innovations into practical, scalable technologies that can be applied in local industries. Emphasis is placed on capacity building, local manufacturing, and knowledge sharing to ensure that communities, entrepreneurs, and industries can adopt, modify, and benefit from modern technological advancements.

Food Processing & Hygiene

The Food Processing & Hygiene research area investigates innovative ways of preserving, processing, and packaging food while ensuring the highest safety and hygiene standards. Our work addresses challenges in post-harvest losses, contamination prevention, and efficient food storage. We also explore the use of local raw materials and modern techniques to extend shelf life, maintain nutritional quality, and meet international hygiene standards, thereby supporting food security and export readiness.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit is dedicated to transforming ideas into sustainable businesses. Our research explores models of entrepreneurship, incubation strategies, and innovation systems that empower individuals and communities. By fostering creativity, business development, and commercialization pathways, this unit helps innovators and startups move from concept to market, contributing to job creation and economic growth.

Clean Energy Cooking

Research in Clean Energy Cooking is aimed at addressing the pressing environmental and health concerns associated with traditional cooking methods. We focus on developing and promoting clean, affordable, and efficient cooking technologies that reduce reliance on wood fuels, minimize carbon emissions, and improve household health. This research also investigates the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, biogas, and improved biomass for sustainable cooking solutions.

Applied Industrial Ceramics

Our work in Applied Industrial Ceramics involves the study and development of ceramic materials and technologies for industrial applications. This research explores advanced ceramics for construction, energy, and manufacturing sectors, as well as traditional uses such as pottery and domestic wares. By combining scientific research with local raw materials, we aim to enhance durability, thermal resistance, and cost-effectiveness, supporting both artisanal industries and large-scale production.
